Nogales police arrest teen for possession of assault rifles, ammo
Nogales police officers arrested a 16-year-old boy for firearms possession after they uncovered 10 AK-47-patterned rifles, along with ammunition and magazines, in the trunk of his car Friday morning.
Around 8 a.m., police pulled over a white Ford Focus and found the weapons, including 10 large boxes of 7.62 mm ammunition and rifle magazines, in the car.
The boy, a U.S. citizen who resides in Nogales, Son. whose identity was not released because of his age, was arrested for possession of firearms and ammunition and handed over to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
The investigation is ongoing and was taken over by HIDTA, said Nogales police.
