Red Cross needs blood donations after shootings

The Red Cross is requesting donations of O positive and O negative blood after the shooting of 19 at a meet and greet with Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on Saturday.

The two blood donor centers in Tucson will be open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for scheduled blood donors and walk-ins with O positive and O negative blood types, Red Cross staffer Christina Walker Rowden said.

Donors can call 230-7295 to make an appointment, she said.

The centers are at the Foothills Mall, 7401 N. La Cholla Blvd. and at 7139 E. Broadway Blvd.

The shooting killed six and wounded 13 others.
