Snow falls on Mt. Lemmon, more to come
The mountains around Tucson could be hit with up to 2 feet of snow over the course of the week, with another weather system expected Thursday after snow fell Monday and Tuesday nights.
After being closed overnight, the Catalina Highway up Mt. Lemmon was opened to residents and employees with four-wheel-drive vehicles and chains on Wednesday morning.
A winter weather watch will be in effect from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening for the Catalinas and Rincons, Mount Graham, and the Galiuro and Pinalino mountains.
Mountain snow and valley rain are forecast through Friday, the Weather Service said.
Snow levels could drop to as low as 4,000 feet later in the week.
