Decades after Vietnam, memory of Morenci Nine preserved

Folks here didn’t make much of the fact that nine members of Morenci High School’s class of 1966 enlisted together in the Marine Corps. But after six of those young men were were killed in Vietnam, national media dubbed them the “Morenci 9″ and this eastern Arizona copper-mining community was left to preserve the memory of their sacrifice.

Sorry for the loss to these families and the community.  Some of us appreciate our veterans—no matter where they were sent to fight on behalf of our country.
