Number of Az's same-sex households fewer than thought

Census Bureau lowers estimate

The Census Bureau has lowered its estimate of same–sex–couple households in Arizona from 20,948 to 15,143 in 2010, part of a nationwide readjustment of the statistic released Tuesday.

These numbers mean that gays are gaining acceptance, huh? Well, me personally, I’m whey beyond acceptance…I have moved on to apathy. I am looking very forward to the day when the mass media also can find its way clear to also move on to apathy with this issue.

“The number impacts public policy initiatives,” said Cathi Herrod, president of the Center for Arizona Policy. “Public policy that caters to a same–sex agenda needs to be laid very carefully. We’re not dealing with a significant proportion of the population.”

Funny how Cathi Herrod says that it’s not a big population and we shouldn’t pander legislation to this group, but her ultra-conservative and arguably most powerful lobbying group in the state writes and passes anti-gay bills all day long.  Shame on her.
