Kate Marymont, Gannett’s senior vice president for news, said, “The news is 24 hours old — I don’t have an answer for that,” when questioned by phone about the media chain’s plans for the site.

Yup, sounds just like a Gannettoid exec making the big bucks.

It will be hard to find someone who was as supportive as Mark was in running the Citizen Blogs.

For a brief time, I experimented with a blog at the Citizen. My time there showed me that I wasn’t comfortable working within the TC’s rules, and that the site was dominated by left wing extremists, both bloggers and commenters. So, I decided that wasn’t for me.

All of that said, I have nothing but positive things to say about Mark. I haven’t seen him treat anyone with anything other than fairness and integrity. And, as bad as the TC is, I don’t put any of that on Mark despite the fact that he was the one running it. He extended an invitation to all, and by and large it was only the extremists that showed up.

I wish Mark nothing but the best in all of his future endeavors.
