A student’s drawing with a caption in the Navajo, or Diné, language hangs in the hall at Tsehootsooi Diné Bi’ Olta’ in Fort Defiance, a language-immersion school where Navajo children learn their tribe’s language. Despite efforts like this, more Native Americans in Arizona are speaking English only.
