Photos: Streetcar gets warm welcome

A gritty sky and rising temperatures didn't keep Tucsonans from turning out to celebrate the launch of the Sun Link streetcar, which made a series of ribbon-cutting whistle stops along its route before a morning event Downtown that inaugurated the line's first run carrying the general public.

Bus Riders Union…sigh. I think the fact that such a thing exists is so completely idiotic. But, to their point…about 400 buses could have been purchased for what was spent on the choo choo train. True story. Let that sink in for a while…

I see from the photos that someone escorted Brain Dead Bob there…had to, because had Brain Dead Bob try to get there on his own he would have been eaten by a lion on the way or something similar. I wonder if he called the streetcar “The most advanced transportation system in the country”, or repeated his ridiculous statement that Rio Nuevo is what he’s most proud of…
