Sentinel editors can't read every comment. Trolls, spammers and other troublemakers can slide under the bridge. We rely on you to help maintain a healthy conversation - more than likely, you're reading these comments before the editors.

We will not edit comments to alter their meaning or censor comments because of political content.
We will not remove comments solely because they are heartless, cruel, coarse, foolish or just plain wrong. Your disapproval can maintain a decent signal to noise ratio. Ultimately, however, self-policing is the best method.
Bottom line, don't be a jerk.

What this story doesn’t tell you is how many people where polled. And where, why? like most polls they ask a few 100 people at the best and come up with numbers. The same people who said McCain could win.
They could have asked Police Officers who have direct contact with people and see if they would liked to be sued for not profiling people of color to see if they have papers.
BOYCOTT AZ
Sam, 1,000 adults polled with 3-point margin of error. It’s in the sidebar, guess you missed it. Here’s a little on the numbers. The “methodology” link at the end gives you more on Rasmussen’s methods. Hope this clears it up.
“The survey of 1,000 adults was conducted May 17-18 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See full methodology.”
Rasmussen has ties to the GOP so is that bias?
You’ll see Scott Rasmussen on FOX so called news from time to time, they also are tied to the gold scandal with G Beck.
So is it a fair to base laws on Rasmussen polls?
You get what you pay for.
We made sure to put in the “conservative pollsters” qualifier in the story. Yes, Rasmussen is linked to the GOP. You’ll find a number of polling firms have affiliations. Public Policy, for example, has ties to Democrats.
This – plus the fact that even 1,000 people is a pretty small sample size – is why these polls should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, it’s interesting to see which way topics might be trending.
