Citizen pulls plug on Three Sonorans blog

The progressive blog Three Sonorans is no longer to be found at the Tucson Citizen website. David Morales' blog, which focused on left-wing politics and TUSD's ethnic studies, was pulled because of a "reckless disregard for the truth," the Citizen's administrator said.

Normally, I am irritated when the media reports on itself. However, I have made two exceptions over the years…

-First, I enjoy reading stories documenting how the Star is swirling further and further down the toilet

-And, now I’ll add this story to the list.

I used to blog at the Citizen. My blog is still technically up. I have to be honest with you…concerning all the idiocy that happened last election day at a local level, it sort of took the figurative wind out of my sails and I just can’t get motivated to do it anymore. Trying to get through to the idiots in this town is a futile cause. They’re just going to vote the D or the skin color, regardless of what anyone tries to enlighten them to or how right that person might be. I’m not saying I’ll never do it again, I’m just saying I lack motivation and inspiration right now.

Anyway, getting back to my point…I read Morales’ blog from time to time when I first got started there. His blog was the same old, same old. He’s a reconquistador, he hates white people, and all the problems in his life are the fault of white people. Blah blah blah. That wasn’t bad enough, but when he started deleting response posts that didn’t cheerlead for his reconquista agenda…that’s when I stopped reading his blog altogether.

I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating…the only people stupider than David Morales is anyone who actually takes him seriously.

For reasons beyond my comprehension, his blog always got more hits than anyone else’s…many months by a significant margin. I never got that because it was the same old tired repetitive shit. Love Morales or hate him, when you clicked open his blog you knew what you were about to read. Anyway, my point…my guess is that Mark Evans might have feared that Morales was becoming the face of the Citizen, and the Citizen didn’t want a face that was so full of hate and did nothing but lie.

Props to Mark Evans and the Citizen for doing the right thing.

Pot meet kettle.  I read both blogs.  Morales’ was more amusing.  If you are looking for truth in a blog, you’d likely look for an explanation of physics in “green eggs and ham.”

The Tucson Citizen has been an utter cesspool ever since they shut down the proper paper and turned the site into some low-rent landing page for extremist “citizen journalist” bloggers. Should be put out of its misery entirely (especially considering the existence of promising up-and-comers like the Tucson Sentinel).

Even though I previously blogged on the Citizen, and haven’t completely ruled out doing so again…if the Citizen were to just shut down I wouldn’t miss it all that much.

Oh, the Citizen wasn’t a “proper paper”. Hadn’t been for years before they finally gave up…hence the reason they closed. The ADS will suffer the same fate. And, once they do…just like the Citizen the ADS will just blame the internet.
