Hospitals see increase in visits for preventable dental problems

Between 2006 and 2009 preventable dental-related ER visits rose 61 percent in Arizona, compared to a 16 percent national increase during the same period, a study found.

I have never understood, and perhaps never will understand, this separation of dentistry from other medical disciplines. No one would suggest that dermatology or cardiology aren’t medical and shouldn’t fall under medical coverage. The skin and heart are body parts, right? The teeth are body parts, right? I just don’t get why the separation…
