The Aztecs softball team recognized their four sophomores after Pima closed out the regular season by sweeping Glendale Community College 14-6 and 9-1 in two run-rule victories. Freshmen Alejandra Castro, Stephanie Tapia (Cibola HS) and Mia Casadei (Tanque Verde HS) combined to go 18 for 24 (.750) with seven home runs, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored as Aztecs softball swept Paradise Valley Community College on Tuesday in Phoenix. The Aztecs are 19-23 on the season.

Freshman Mia Casadei (Tanque Verde HS) finished the day going 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored but the Aztecs softball team fell at South Mountain Community College 14-10 and 9-1. The Aztecs are 17-23 overall and in ACCAC conference play. The Aztecs clinched the No. 4 seed in the NJCAA Region I, Division I Tournament being held on May 13-14 in Prescott. Pima has four regular season games remaining.

Sophomore Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) earned ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time this season after she went 2-0 with a 2.54 ERA in 11 innings pitched at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The Aztecs host Central Arizona College on Tuesday at the West Campus Aztec Softball Field.

Freshman Kalynn Worthy (Verrado HS) went 7 for 9 with nine RBIs and three runs scored as the Aztecs softball team defeated Chandler-Gilbert Community College 8-2 and 20-7 on Saturday in Chandler. The Aztecs have won eight of their last 10 and are now 17-19 overall and in ACCAC conference play.

Freshman outfielder Elise Muñoz (Salpointe Catholic HS) was named ACCAC Division I Player of the Week on Monday after she went 13 for 16 at the plate with seven runs scored, four RBIs, three stolen bases and two walks as the Aztecs went 4-0. She is batting .473 on the season.

Aztecs women's soccer sophomores Dulcenella Yebra (Tucson Magnet HS) (left) and Kortney Cahill (Cienega HS) signed their national letters of intent to four-year universities. Yebra signed to Benedictine University Mesa, an NAIA school in Mesa. Cahill signed to Caldwell University, an NCAA Division II school in New Jersey.

Muñoz hit a walk-off RBI single in the second game and Tapia sparked the rally with a 3-run home run in the 6th inning. The Aztecs are 8-12 overall and in ACCAC conference play.

Freshman infielder Analisa Gomez (University HS) was named the Chapman Automotive Aztecs Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 7-13. She batted .500 last week and has maintained a 4.0 GPA since Fall 2021. She has also done community service events for the Human Society, Love of Reading and clothing donation drives.
