8 places to celebrate with mom this Sunday

Are you still trying to figure out something fun to do for your mom this weekend? Show her how much she's appreciated by taking her to one of these local events:

1. Breakfast at Reid Park Zoo —3400 Zoo Court, 8 - 9:30 a.m.

The day will begin with a breakfast at the Zoo's Conservation Learning Center then will lead into an opportunity to explore the Zoo and watch the animal moms celebrate Mother's Day with special treats. A Mother's Day card station will offer the option to make a card for your mom. A special offer on adopting an animal in your mom's name will only be $40 this Sunday. Ticket Prices: $40 non-member, $35 member, $15 children ages 2-14, and ages under 2 are free.

2. Mother's Day Buffet Brunch at Tohono Chul Garden Bistro — 7366 N. Paseo del Norte, 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

The buffet brunch will include an omelet and egg station, a quiche bar and a carving station. When you're done take mom for a walk through some of the distinctive gardens at Tohono Chul Park. Admission to the park is free for mothers and grandmothers. The buffet is $44.95 for adults, $13.95 for children ages 5-10, free for kids under 5 years of age. 3. Brunch at Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort — 4401 N. Hacienda del Sol Road, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

This special treat for your mother will offer a variety of brunch options. The menu includes an Omelet and Waffle Bar, Carving Station, and a Seafood Station in addition to salads, entrees, and desserts. Ticket Price: $65 per person, $32.50 for kids ages 8-14, and ages 6 and under are free.

4. Brunch at Café Botanica — 2150 N. Alvernon Way, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Enjoy Mother's Day at the Tucson Botanical Gardens. Café Botanica will offer a special Mother's Day Brunch menu for the day. Reservations are required. Call 326-9686 ex. 10 to make reservations.

5. Mother's Day Weekend at Old Tucson — 201 S. Kinney Rd., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Come show your mom Old Tucson with comedy and musical shows, historic site tours, and a vintage carousel. A Mother's Day Prime Rib Dinner will take place with prime rib, baked potato, and a salad bar. Ticket Prices: $17.95 for ages 12 and over and $10.95 for children ages 4-11.

6. Brunch Buffet at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador 10000 N. Oracle Rd., 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

The brunch buffet will feature an omelet station, farmer's market salads, and chilled offerings. The day will be complete with live music and an assortment of desserts. Ticket Prices: $59.95 for adults and $19 for children ages 6-12.

7. Tea At The Mini Time Machine — 4455 E. Camp Lowell Dr., 2:30 - 4 p.m.

The Mother's Day Tea at The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures will feature Maya Tea, scones, fresh fruit, and assorted sweets. Pablo Gonzalez will perform background music of classical guitar. Each ticket includes admission and a small favor. Ticket Prices: $25 per person, $22 for museum members.

8. Tucson Pops Orchestra — The DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center at Reid Park, 7 p.m.

Pack up a picnic and grab a comfy blanket and treat mom to some music under the stars with The Arizona Balalaika Orchestra. The show will feature a special musical tribute to moms. Free admission.
