Unscrewed Theater spotlights 2nd anniversary of nailing down stage

  • Unscrewed Theater

Are you in the mood for a laugh but tired of going to the movies?

Unscrewed Theater will celebrate the second anniversary of staging improvisational comedy at the troupe's East Speedway home this weekend.

The family-friendly shows will be at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

Unscrewed Theater's house lineup, "Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed," has been performing in the style of the popular television show "Whose Line is it Anyway" for 13 years.

"Up until two years ago we were playing wherever we could get a spot. We're celebrating two years in the same location," said Chris Seidman, a member of the NBOJU cast.

The group takes suggestions during performances to form the basis of on-the-spot comedy scenes, and often invites volunteers to come up on stage.

"We have shows every weekend throughout the year and no two shows are alike," Seidman said. In addition to the "clean" shows each weekend, the group puts on "uncensored" comedy shows several times each month.

The performers' experiences at on-stage improv range from one year to 12 years. The group also offers improv comedy classes during the week.
