'Haiti Reborn' concert to raise relief funds

Looking do more to help victims of the Haitian earthquake? Come out to see some great local music at the Benefit for Haiti Reborn at Club Congress on Sunday.
Donations collected will go toward the earthquake relief effort. Haiti Reborn, a project of the Quixote Center, is working with Doctors Without Borders and Konpay, a Haitian community development organization.
Local musicians James Jordan and Gerard Delancourt were in Haiti just days before the Jan. 12 earthquake investigating human rights conditions and development possibilities for the Alliance for Global Justice.
After the tragedy they decided to organize a benefit. Jordan and Dalencourt, along with David Slutes at Club Congress, have put together an exciting collection of local talent. On the bill are Jimmy Carr's latest endeavor, backed by his Awkward Moments, and the multi-talented artist, activist and singer Salvador Duran.
Jordan and Delancourt's own bands, Caliche con Carne and Spirit Familia will raise the crowd’s spirits with their dance music.
Organizers will ask for a $5 cover at the door. People are also encouraged to bring "hard" contributions, including first aid and hygiene supplies, over-the-counter medications, blankets and dry goods such as rice and beans.
Most the money raised will go to Haiti Reborn. Donations of goods and a smaller portion of the proceeds will be given to Tucson-based World Care.
