I was a tour guide at Taliesin West in the late 90’s.
Frank Lloyd Wright wanted to move his studio to the beautiful Sabino Canyon area from North Scottsdale, after telephone lines spoiled his view from the McDowell Mountain area.
FLLW believed in incorporating the environment into an organic design concept that mimicked the local landscape, using materials that were locally available (not wood in the desert), and reflected the natural elements into the details of the building.
An amazing man, and an amazing mind, and his genius can be seen in all the buildings at Taliesin West.
