'Alice in Wonderland in Digital 3-D' clowns paying audience

Gee, Tim Burton, Krup You!

Why adapt "Alice" in this way, as a series of Cirque de Soleil freak-meets in a Wonderland – called “Underland” in the film – that resembles the alien cosmos inhabited by the Teletubbies more than anything else? Tim Burton, you have so much to answer for.

I’m afraid everything Tim Burton has made from “Big Fish” forward, falls into the category of films they could not PAY ME enough to sit through. This is an extreme example of the all too typical phenomenon of an “artist,” working in any discipline, being seduced, by some entourage of toadies—and a few critics with low standards—who continue to proclaim him or her a “genius,” with no evidence to support that claim. Time for that sabbatical, Mr. Burton. Take a year or two off, please! Unfortunately, when the financial rewards continue to be so great—thanks to the sheep-like behavior of the movie audience majority—seeing the need for that is difficult. What Tim Burton really needs is a couple of resounding financial flops. Guess that’s not too likely, as this piece of cinematic crap was #1 at the box office last week. Dito, Mr. Depp. Your act is beyond stale.
