Pima basketball's Smith earns ACCAC Player of the Week

Pima Community College women’s basketball player Denesia Smith (Cienega HS) posted great numbers last week and was rewarded by the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference.

Smith, a sophomore guard, was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 4. She averaged 18.5 points and totaled seven rebounds, nine assists and 15 steals in Pima’s wins over Chandler-Gilbert Community College and Glendale Community College.

Smith is averaging 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She has played and started in nine games this season.

The Aztecs fell in overtime to Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday and look to bounce back on Saturday at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix. The game will start at 2 p.m.
