Pima volleyball falls to No. 20 Arizona Western

The Pima Community College volleyball team (11-11, 4-6 in ACCAC) dropped an ACCAC conference match in Yuma on Saturday.

The Aztecs fell in straight sets to No. 20-ranked Arizona Western College (16-5, 8-1) 25-18, 25-20, 25-13.

Freshman Jade Romine (Canyon del Oro HS) finished the match with eight kills and digs. Sophomore Kaitlin Schmich (Mountain View HS) had 23 assists while fellow sophomore Lyrica Tavesi (Pima HS) contributed with six kills and two blocks.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Tuesday against Phoenix College in a make-up match from Oct. 3. It will begin with the Aztecs trailing the match 1-0 but leading the second set 10-6. First serve is at 7 p.m.
