Moala's monster game earns him WSFL Player of the Week honors

Pima Community College freshman Sam Moala earned recognition for his play in Saturday’s game at Eastern Arizona College.

Moala, a defensive end, was selected WSFL Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The Aztecs fell to the Gila Monsters 21-16 but Moala was a standout on defense as he finished with 13 tackles (seven solo) and three forced fumbles; one was returned for a 5-yard touchdown. He also had five tackles-for-loss for a total of 20 yards. Moala has 21 tackles on the season.

The Aztecs will return to Kino North Stadium on Saturday when they host No. 11 ranked Snow College at 1 p.m.
