Nguyen scores twice as Pima men's soccer annihilates winless GateWay

The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (12-2) won its fourth straight game on Thursday in a shutout win at Kino North Stadium.

The No. 6-ranked Aztecs scored four goals in the first half and went on to beat GateWay Community College 6-0.

Freshman Alec Nguyen (Sahuaro HS) scored two goals in the first half as fellow freshman Ricky Gordillo (Maya HS) had the assists in both goals.

Sophomore Hugo Kametani and freshman Itsuki Ishihara scored their goals on penalty kicks. Freshman Ben Holthaus also contributed with a goal.

The Aztecs held the Geckos (0-14) to no shots on goal in the second half. Freshman Nils Roth finished the game with two games. Sophomore David Silva played the final 32 minutes and had no saves.

The Aztecs will hit the road and play a morning game on Saturday at Scottsdale Community College. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
