Aztec soccer: Men roast Artichokes; women wilt in overtime

Striker Yahya Kane makes return to men's squad with goal; Erika Heredia keeps women in the match with 14 saves

Men: Pima Aztecs 7 - Scottsdale Fighting Artichokes 1

The Pima Community College men's soccer team fell behind early but scored seven unanswered goals on Saturday to defeat Scottsdale Community College 7-1.

JC Henson scored two goals for the Aztecs. Fabian Romero, Kyle Cornell, Tyler Terrell and Declan Fulton each scored a goal for Pima. Yahya Kane, coming back from a knee injury, played in his first game of the season and also contributed with a goal of his own.

Women: Pima Aztecs 1 - Scottsdale Fighting Artichokes 2

The Pima College women's soccer team fell to Scottsdale Community College 2-1 in overtime on Saturday. The Aztecs have now dropped four in a row.

Ashley Estrada scored the goal for the Aztecs with an assist from Kathy Fisher. Pima goalkeeper Erika Heredia had a busy night behind the net as she finished with 14 saves.

Coming up

Both teams will be making the trek to the Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix on Tuesday to face Mesa Community College.
