Ishihara & Nguyen spark Pima men's soccer rally over Scottsdale

The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (5-1) won its fifth straight game on Thursday but it didn’t come easy against Scottsdale Community College (0-4-1).

The No. 6-ranked Aztecs came from behind to top the Artichokes 2-1 at Kino North Stadium.

The Artichokes scored in the 10th minute but the Aztecs closed out the half on a strong note. Freshman Itsuki Ishihara scored with 3:43 left in the half and fellow freshman Alec Nguyen (Sahuaro HS) gave the Aztecs the lead with 44 seconds left before the break.

Ishihara and Nguyen assisted in one another’s goals. Both defenses were put to work as the Aztecs outshot the Artichokes 5-2. Freshman Nils Roth had one save.

The Aztecs will conclude a busy week on Saturday as they play at South Mountain Community College on Saturday in Phoenix. Game time is set for 10 a.m.
