Nate Robertson had his best outing of the season for Tacoma Wednesday in the Rainiers 6-1 win over the Tucson Padres. Robertson pitched eight innings without allowing an earned run and held Tucson to five scattered hits.
The Rainiers scored four of their six runs on one bizarre play in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Greg Halman hit a single to left field to score Luis Jimenez and Mike Wilson. Padres pitcher Samuel Deduno caught the incoming throw and threw it away trying to nail Sean Kazmar at third base. The error allowed Kazmar to score and Halman to round the bases and also score. The four-run play included two unearned runs because of the error.
None of the Padres had a multi-hit game Wednesday. The Padres have now lost two of three in the series and have a 63-76 record this season.
Tim Hagerty is the play-by-play announcer for the Tucson Padres.
