Padres earn walk-off win with bases-loaded RBI

Jedd Gyorko's RBI fielder's choice scored Daniel Robertson with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Padres a 6-5 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies. It was their third walk-off win of 2012.

Robertson started the bottom of the ninth with a single and ran to third on Andy Parrino's bloop single to left field. After Jesus Merchan's bunt attempt was caught by catcher Eli Whiteside, Jeremy Hermida walked to load the bases. Gyorko hit the ball off the foot of Fresno reliever Dan Otero and the ball ricocheted to first baseman Brett Pill. The throw home from Pill was behind Robertson's slide and the Padres' celebration began.

Gyorko had a two-run home run earlier in the night and now has 50 RBIs in 50 Triple-A games. He is the team leader in RBIs despite playing in only 50 of the club's 91 contests this year. Robertson finished 2-for-4, one night after representing the Tucson Padres in Buffalo at the Triple-A All-Star Game.

San Diego Padres lefthander Eric Stults made his first injury rehab start with Tucson and pitched 2.2 innings, allowing three earned runs. Stults is with the San Diego Padres disabled list because of a left lat strain. Bear Bay replaced Stults and allowed only one run in 4.1 innings of work. Cory Burns and Erik Hamren pitched a scoreless inning each out of Tucson's bullpen, with Hamren collecting the win.

Tim Hagerty is the play-by-play announcer for the Tucson Padres.
