The Tucson Padres offense exploded late in Monday's game and turned a close contest into a lopsided 10-1 win. The Padres led 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth and scored two runs, added three more in the seventh and four more in the eighth to win their second straight game.
Padres starter Matt Palmer allowed just one run in six innings of work and picked up his fifth win of the season. Palmer pitched for Salt Lake for parts of three seasons from 2009-2011. Padres relievers Brad Boxberger and Miles Mikolas tossed a scoreless inning each out of the Tucson bullpen.
Two nights after hitting three doubles, Tucson infielder Andy Parrino went 4-for-5 Monday with two doubles and four RBIs. Nick Hundley went 3-for-4 and has four hits in eight at bats since joining the T-Pads Sunday. Padres outfielder Daniel Robertson went 2-for-4 with three RBIs including a two-run triple. Jedd Gyorko drove in two runs, but went 0-for-4, ending a nine-game hitting streak.
Tim Hagerty is the play-by-play announcer for the Tucson Padres.
