Reno's 7 shutout innings lock Padres in losing streak

Joe Martinez pitched seven shutout innings for Reno on Thursday in the Aces 4-1 win over the Tucson Padres. Martinez allowed four hits and struck out four to pick up his second win over the Padres in the last six days.

Reno scored its first run in the first inning on an RBI single by Ryan Wheeler, giving him his Pacific Coast League-leading 62nd RBI of the season. The Aces took a two-run lead on Jake Elmore's RBI single in the fourth inning. A.J. Pollock hit a two-run home run in the fifth, his first Triple-A homer.

Daniel Robertson hit a solo home run in the eighth for the T-Pads' only tally. The Padres have lost eight consecutive games and have dropped all four games of their current road trip. Reno manager Brett Butler was ejected for arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Matt Schaufert in the eighth inning.

Tim Hagerty is the play-by-play announcer for the Tucson Padres.
