Pima tracker Fisher breaks record; Valencia takes 5th in steeplechase

The Pima Community College track and field teams completed the second day of competition in the NJCAA Championships at Gowans Stadium at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan.

Kathy Fisher (Sahuaro HS) broke the Pima CC school record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1 minute, 02.77 seconds in her preliminary race.

In men’s competition, Alejandro Valencia (Rio Rico HS) took fifth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:33.40.

The Aztecs will finish competition at Gowans Stadium on Saturday with events beginning at 9 a.m. and running throughout the day.
