Pima track crowns four Region I champions

The Pima Community College track and field teams produced four regional champions on the third day of the Region I Championships on Tuesday at Mesa Community College.

In women’s competition, Brianna Rodriguez (Cienega HS) won the regional championship in the long jump event with a first place jump of 5.71 meters.

In men’s competition, Deante Gaines (Cibola HS) took first place in the long jump with a winning jump of 7.16 meters. In the high jump event, Eddie Wilcox (Chandler HS) took top honors with a jump of 2.08 meters. Aaron Orduno (Dobson HS) won the hammer throw event with a winning throw of 49.05 meters.

The Region I Championships will conclude Thursday at Mesa Community College with competition starting at 5 p.m.
