Four Pima baseball players sign Division I commitments

The Pima Community College baseball team is sending four of its top players on to the NCAA Division I level.

Sophomores Phillip Sikes, Austin Bryan (Sahuarita HS) and freshmen Karl Koerper and Cole Cummings signed letters of intent.

Sikes, an outfielder/pitcher, signed to Texas Christian University (TCU) out of the Big 12 Conference in Fort Worth, TX. In his only season with the Aztecs, Sikes was named first team All-ACCAC conference and first team All-Region I, Division I. He batted .370 and led the Aztecs with 26 extra base hits, six triples, seven home runs and 18 steals. He tied for the team-lead with 13 doubles and 40 RBIs in 54 games played. He finished the season with a fielding percentage of .985. He also went 2-1 with a 0.96 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched. He gave up one earned run with 21 strikeouts and four saves.

Bryan, a left-handed pitcher, signed to the University of Nevada,Las Vegas (UNLV) out of the Mountain West Conference. Bryan played one year for the Aztecs and was selected second team All-ACCAC and second team All-Region I, Division I. He went 10-3 with a 3.64 ERA in 81.2 innings pitched. He tied for the ACCAC conference lead with 94 strikeouts and he threw five complete games.

Koerper, an infielder, signed to the University of Washington in the PAC 12 Conference in Seattle, WA. He batted .260 with five home runs and 37 RBIs. He hit eight doubles and drew 19 walks in 50 games played. Koerper had a fielding percentage of .973.

Cummings, an infielder, signed his letter of intent to University of California, Santa Barbara out of the Big West Conference. He earned first team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division I honors. He led the Aztecs with a .383 average, 196 at-bats, 75 hits and 55 runs scored. He also had 13 doubles, five triples, two homers, 39 RBIs, 29 walks and 13 steals. Cummings finished with a fielding percentage of .940.

The Aztecs finished the season at 36-19 overall and 22-16 in ACCAC conference play.
