Distance runner Regalado breaks Pima record in 5k-meter race

The Pima Community College track and field teams competed in the Triton Invitational at the University of California, San Diego, on Friday and Saturday.

Nikki Regalado (Cienega HS) set a new school record in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17 minutes, 30.58 seconds. Her previous national qualifying time was 18:26.90. Shanice Alchesay (Alchesay HS) set a national qualifying time in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:25.59, which is a new personal record for her. 

Kathy Fisher set a new personal record and improved on her national qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles as she finished in third place with a time of 1:03.06.

In men’s competition, Anthony Spendlove (Flagstaff HS) set a national qualifying time in the 5,000-meter race also with a time of 15:42.96.

The Aztecs have 15 athletes who have set national qualifying marks. 

The Aztecs will compete in the Region I Multi-Events at Mesa Community College on Monday and Tuesday.
