Pima jump record-breakers Shoultz and Malone sign letters of intent

Pima Community College high-profile jumpers Sam Shoultz (Corona del Sol HS) and Treyshon Malone (Yuma Catholic HS) will continue their collegiate careers at the NCAA Division I level as they signed their letters of intent on Wednesday.

Shoultz signed his national letter of intent to the University of Maryland. He owns the Pima high-jump record at 7-feet, 1.75-inches and recently tied his own record at the Sun Angel Meet earlier this month. Shoultz was an outdoor national champion last season and took home the indoor national title this season.

Malone signed his national letter of intent to Idaho State University. He set the Pima school record in the long jump earlier this month with a leap of 25-feet, 5.50-inches.

The Aztecs compete in the Triton Invitational at the University of California, San Diego on Friday and Saturday. Competition begins on Friday at 4 p.m. and continues on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
