PCC runners set national qualifying marks at Paradise Valley meet

The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at Paradise Valley Community College for the second straight week and set new indoor season national qualifying marks.

Jamie Holliday (Sahuaro HS) improved on her indoor season, as well as set an outdoor season national qualifying mark in the long jump. She took first place and set a personal best with a jump of 18-feet, 7 inches. Her mark from last week was 17'-11¾".

Rhiannon Reece (Benson HS) set an indoor national qualifying mark in the pole vault with a first place vault of 10'-0".

In men’s competition, Cruz Rodriguez (Empire HS) set an indoor national qualifying time and a personal best in the 1,000-meter race. He finished in third place with a time of 2 minutes, 32.77 seconds. His time places him third in the country.

The Aztecs track and field teams will host the Aztec Indoor Invitational at the West Campus on Friday and Saturday. Competition begins on Friday at 2 p.m.
