Arizona Stadium bleachers sacked by end zone project

The aluminum bleachers in the UA's Arizona Stadium were torn down Thursday, part of a $72 million upgrade to the football facility.

Taking the place of the stands will be permanent seating, along with new concourses connecting the 83-year-old stadium's east and west seats.

Also included in the project will be club and dining spaces; locker, equipment and strength and conditioning rooms; and a University of Arizona football hall of fame.

The UA has aimed a webcam at the project, which is scheduled for completion for summer 2013.

I always liked Arizona Stadium. I hope the new upgrades don’t end up compromising the charm and character this stadium has always enjoyed.

Sorry, we missed your input...
