Ash Friederich graduated from the University of Arizona in 2007 with degrees in journalism and creative writing. While attending Pima Community College, he wrote for the Aztec Press. After being hired at the Tucson Citizen and working as a freelancer, starting in 2004, he became an employee and continued to work there until the Citizen closed in May 2009.
Currently, Ash is also working for the Arizona Daily Star as a freelancer and joined the Tucson Sentinel team to get a break from covering high school, which he has been doing for the past six years. The Sentinel is a chance for him to cover more in-depth stories like University of Arizona athletics and professional sports.
