On Friday the U.S. Attorney's Office announced it had ended its investigation of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, declining to bring charges of financial misconduct.
Earlier in the day, the state solicitor general cleared Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu of wrongdoing after allegations Babeu had threatened a male lover with deportation. Babeu had requested the investigation in an effort to clear his name.
