Guantanamo

President Obama, who first pledged to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay during his campaign for president in 2007, has pledged to re-engage Congress to try to get the job done.

Congress blocked the president's previous efforts to close the prison, rejecting several proposed options for moving detainees from the facility and trying them in either civilian or military courts.
