Illegal crossers reportedly beat robbers, killing one

Frustrated at being robbed a second time, group fights back

A group of illegal border crossers, frustrated at being robbed a second time, say they beat two men, killing one, deputies say.

The crossers told Pima County Sheriff's deputies that after being robbed in Mexico, they crossed the border and were robbed again.

The group beat the two men with rocks and sticks in an attempt to defend themselves, then fled, according to a press release from the sheriff's department.

A resident near Sasabe told Border Patrol agents that a man came to his home seeking help for him and his injured friend. The man led authorities to a body.

Agents searched the area and found a group of 10 border crossers who said the two men were the ones who robbed them. They also said the two men were the ones who robbed them south of the border, according to the Arizona Daily Star. All were taken into custody.
