Sportscaster Dave Sitton on the University of Arizona football team's bowl berth, the Wildcats' basketball game against Southern Mississippi, and controversial comments on gun control made by Bob Costas on Monday Night Football.

Our second interview was Mark B. Evans Tucsoncitizen.com administrator, who talked about education funding and the need for a new political party to give independent voters a home.

TUSD Superintendent John Pedicone talked about budget challenges, saying there is a need to close schools around the district.

Arizona House Speaker Andy Tobin addressed balancing the budget, funding education, tax incentives for corporations, and infrastructure in what will be his second term as speaker.

Finishing our show was state Sen. Linda Lopez, assistant minority leader, who echoed Pedicone's concerns about adequate funding for education. She also talked about state health care and bipartisan cooperation in the coming session of the Legislature.

The John C. Scott Show airs Monday-Friday, 3-5 p.m. on KVOI 1030 AM. The opinions expressed on the John C. Scott Show are those of the host and guests. TucsonSentinel.com posts show archives as a public service, because of the number of local newsmakers interviewed on the program.
