Aerospace Parkway to close at UP crossing this weekend

On Saturday, December 8 starting at 4 a.m., through Sunday, December 9, to 12 a.m., Pima County Project Management Office along with their contractor, Borderland Construction Company, Inc., and the Union Pacific Railroad will be temporarily closing Aerospace Parkway at the railroad crossing.

The closure will allow UPRR to upgrade the existing tracks and panels at the crossing and install new at-grade crossing panels to accommodate the widening of Aerospace Parkway.

The contractor will perform critical work to widen the road at the railroad tracks, including the adjustments of the roadway grade, installation of new curbs and median, and preparation of the area for its final configuration. This is the first of two closures. A second closure is anticipated to be in January 2019.

Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule will be subject to change.
