Throw out old medicine at Saturday's Dispose-a-Med

Got little bottles of unknown pills cluttering you medicine cabinet? You can dispose of prescription and over-the-counter drugs properly at the Dispose-a-Med event Saturday morning in a safe, anonymous way.

Prescription and over-the-counter tablets, capsules, liquids, and creams will be accepted at the event, to be held by the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the Rincon Optimist Club.

Metal or glass inhalation aerosol bottles, syringes, and epi-pens will not be accepted..

403.7 pounds of medication have been collected at previous events, according to the sheriff's department website.

The free collection will be held at Safeway, 9125 E. Tanque Verde Rd. 

Due to confidentiality reasons, any items given at the collection cannot be returned. Drugs from commercial organizations won't be accepted.
