Agents seize nearly 700 lbs of pot

Arrests

Naco Station agents a 41-year-old Mexican man for illegally entering the United States on Thursday. Record checks revealed he had a misdemeanor conviction for third degree assault causing physical injury. He was being processed for removal.

Tucson Station agents apprehended a 59-year-old Guatemalan man Wednesday night for illegally entering the United States. Record checks revealed he had prior convictions in Los Angeles for possession of a controlled substance for sale and violation of a court order to prevent domestic violence, as well as a prior removal. He was held for federal prosecution

Seizure

Ajo Station agents working in the West Desert on Thursday night were notified of possible drug smuggling. The All Terrain Unit seized 14 bundles of marijuana and apprehended two people. The marijuana, weighing nearly 700 pounds and valued at $349,800, was to be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The people are facing federal charges.
