J.C. Scott: Deadline to mail ballots today

On Thursday's edition:

We started the show with Ward 3 Tucson City Council candidate Ben Buehler-Garcia, who responded to statements from incumbent Karin Uhlich and local Democrats. The Republican talked about his positions on background checks, pay raises, SB1070 and traffic-enforcement cameras.

20 min: We were joined by state Sen. Steve Farley (D-LD9), who gave his take on the removal Arizona Senate Minority Leader Leah Landrum Taylor. Farley said he believes the sore feeling over the election of new leadership will be short-lived. He also addressed highway safety and texting while driving.

36 min: Next up was Tucson Weekly Editor Dan Gibson, who gave a run-down of this week's issue.

51 min: We spoke with RNC Committeeman Bruce Ash, who talked about the latest national political news, including presidential approval ratings, Affordable Care Act implementation, budget talks and foreign policy. Ash concluded with a look at the City Council elections next Tuesday.

83 min: We finished the show with Middle East expert Prof. Stephen Zunes, who gave an update on the latest news out of the region, discussing Iran, Israel, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt Libya and Algeria.
