Tucson woman arrested for smuggling heroin

A Tucson woman was arrested Tuesday for attempting to smuggle nearly five pounds of heroin into the United States through Nogales.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Dennis DeConcini crossing arrested Yolanda Valdez Borquez, 38, after a drug dog helped officers find a suitcase containing heroin worth approximately $66,000, according to a news release from the agency.

Borquez was handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the vehicle and drugs were seized.
