Border Patrol

Agents find 410 lbs of pot, arrest man with murder conviction

In separate incidents Wednesday, Border Patrol agents seized 12 bundles of marijuana worth $305,000 and arrested an illegal immigrant with a murder conviction, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Casa Grande Station agents who were tracking footprints of possible illegal immigrants in the West Desert found the abandoned marijuana, which weighed about 410 pounds, the Border Patrol said in a press release Thursday.

The drugs were taken to the Casa Grande Station for processing.

Also on Wednesday, Ajo Station agents apprehended a 28-year-old man from Hondurus for illegal entry into the United States.

A background check revealed the man was convicted of negligent homicide and providing false information to a police officer in Orlanda, Fla. He served five years in prison for those crimes, the Border Patrol said.

The man was held for criminal prosecution.
