J.C. Scott: President Obama reflects on 'The Dream'

On Wednesday's edition:

On the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech at the March on Washington, we began our broadcast with President Barack Obama's speech to crowds gathered at the National Mall.

33 min: We were then joined by financial advisor Shelly Fishman for our regular weekly segment "Your Financial Future," a review of financial markets and a look at the coming week.

51 min: We interviewed Martha McSally about her Arizona Daily Star opinion piece "Wake Up and Unite To Save A-10 and Davis-Monthan." The former A-10 pilot and prospective repeat GOP candidate for Congress gave her view of the aircraft's future in the military and asked Southern Arizona to unite and speak out in support of the A-10's based here in Tucson and to raise community support for Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

73 min: Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona CEO Bill Carnegie and event coordinator Kris French joined John to talk about the many events scheduled for September's Hunger Action Month.

86 min: We finished the show with Middle East expert Prof. Stephen Zunes, who updated listeners to the latest news out of Syria, as all signs seem to point to a U.S. military strike in response to what appears to be a chemical weapons attack by the Syrian government on opposition forces. Zunes commented on how other countries in the region might be affected.

The John C. Scott Show airs Monday-Friday, 3-5 p.m. on KVOI 1030 AM. The opinions expressed on the John C. Scott Show are those of the host and guests. TucsonSentinel.com posts show archives as a public service, because of the number of local newsmakers interviewed on the program.
