Streetcar to run late on weekends for UA students

Citing increased ridership by returning University of Arizona students, city officials are extending late-night Sun Link service on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Streetcars will again run until 2 a.m. on those nights — service had been cut back in June.

The changes begin this week, and will be effective through Oct. 2, city spokesman Michael Graham said.

Streetcars will run through 2 a.m. on all three nights, a two-hour extension on Friday and Saturday, and four hours later on Thursday nights than the service had operated over the summer.

Each night of the expanded service, streetcars will run every 15 minutes through midnight, and then every 30 minutes until 2 a.m.
