Agua Prieta man accused of drug smuggling

A 40-year-old Agua Prieta, Son., man was arrested Saturday for trying to smuggle more than 265 pounds of marijuana in the United States, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Douglas Port of Entry directed the man for a secondary inspection of his van after a CBP canine detected possible drugs, CBP said.

Officers found 194 packages of marijuana, worth nearly $133,000, hidden throughout the van, CBP said.

The man was turned over to ICE's Homeland Security Investigations, and the drugs and van were seized, CBP said.
