J.C. Scott: Kirkpatrick on vets, Evans on bombings

On Tuesday's edition of the John C. Scott Show, "Live" from the Habistore:

5 min. into the show, we started with Tucsoncitizen.com Administrator Mark B. Evans. He discussed his latest column, "Boston bombing again proves PATRIOT Act useless," and had a few words to say about conspiracy theories. He also discussed the latest news from the Tucson City Council and the Arizona Legislature.

30 minutes in, we were joined by Democratic U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (CD1), who was in town to visit local leaders. Subjects covered included veterans issues, immigration, the federal budget and gun control.

55 min.: We started our second hour with Tucson Unified School District Superintendent John Pedicone, who recently announced his resignation. Pedicone talked about the challenges facing TUSD and his reasons for stepping down, as well as the district budget, Common Core and union negotiations.

75 min.: Tucson Hispanic Chamber President Lea Marquez Peterson promoted the chamber's upcoming "Head over Heals: Southern Arizona Women's Business Conference," scheduled for May 7.

90 min.: We finished with state Attorney General Tom Horne, who talked about an agreement with Arizona cities on civil unions, the indictment of 18 people in connection with ASARCO copper thefts totaling more than $10 million, and his office obtaining $48 million for AHCCCS.
