Avoid ID theft by destroying documents at Shred-A-Thon

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is urging residents to help fight identity theft by shredding personal documents during its March Shred-A-Thon on Saturday at Pantano Christian Church.

PCSD is teaming with Arizona Verified Information Destruction to rid households of documents that could fall into the hands of identity thieves, PCSD spokeswoman Deputy Dawn Barkman said.

The free Shred-A-Thon will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the church's parking lot, 1755 S. Houghton Rd. An attendant will pick up documents from drivers at their vehicles and take them to a bin to be shredded, Barkman said.

For more information, call 351-4615.
